Jugasankha was started its first publication on December 13, 1950. Prior to publication of Jugasankha, Barthabhagarat Baidyanath Nath edited ‘Muktipradip’, a weekly official mouth speech of Congress from Silchar in Pre-independence era. Its publication was suspended after the independence of India. However it had discontinued after the journey of jugasankha.
In the year 2006 Dainik Jugasankha started publishing from Dibrugarh apart from Guwahati and Silchar. It is now even being read by readers living in Dima Hasao, Karbi Anglong, Dhubri, Tezpur, Mangaldoi, Nalbari, Naogaon, Golaghat, Jorhat, Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Lakhimpur, Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh. The daily’s internet edition is also being read by the people across the globe.
In 2015, Jugasankha started its full fledged edition from Kolkata & from 2016, Siliguri edition of Jugasankha has been started reaching the entire state of West Bengal & neighboring states like Jharkhand, Sikkim, etc. Jugasankha is the one of the largest circulated Bengali daily in the East, specifically in Northeast.
