لم تفشل التظاهرات السودانية هذه المرة، رغم تجاهل وسائل الإعلام والجيش لها في البداية؛ فبعد 114 يومًا من الهتافات الصاخبة، انتصرت ثورة السودان وانكسرت عصا البشير التي حكمت السودان ثلاثة عقود، الرجل الذي فشلت كافة المحاولات السابقة في الإطاحة به، كما فشلت الانتفاضات المتكررة في هزيمته؛ لكنّ أحداث خمس ليالٍ ضبابية قضاها الثوار في اعتصام القيادة العامة للجيش بعد نحو أربعة أشهر من التصعيد كانت فاصلة.

After 114 days of loud cheers, the Sudan revolution won and the three-decade rule of Bashir, the man who all previous attempts failed to overthrow, failed. But the events of five foggy nights spent by the rebels in the sit-in of the General Command of the army after about four months of escalation was a break.
