We present eWitness, an architecture that turns a smart phone or other such mobile device into an authenticated camera for forensically sound evidence acquisition and submission. In addition, eWitness provides privacy for witnesses, allowing them to submit evidence under the protection of anonymity and thus without fear of retribution. We provide a design that proves the integrity of the evidence file and it’s spatio-temporal context. The purpose is to ensure that the evidence self certifies its authenticity and hence is admissible in a court.
