Description of Joplin

Joplin is a secure, open source note taking and to-do application, which can handle a large number of notes organised into notebooks. The notes are searchable, can be copied, tagged and modified. The Android application supports markdown rendering.
The note can be securely synchronised using Joplin Cloud so that your notes are available on all your devices. It also lets you publish notes, and collaborate on notebooks with your friends, family or colleagues. Synchronisation is secured using end-to-end encryption (E2EE).
Besides Joplin Cloud, the notes can be synchronised with your other services, such as Dropbox, OneDrive, Nextcloud, S3 or WebDAV. Joplin is also available for Windows, macOS and Linux and all can synchronise with each others so your notes can be available on your mobile phone, computer, tablet, etc. Please see the official website for the list of available applications: https://joplinapp.org/
The desktop applications can be used to import notes from Evenote via .enex files, including the formatted content (which is converted to markdown), resources (images, attachments, etc.) and complete metadata (geolocation, updated time, created time, etc.). These imported notes can then be synchronised with the Android app.

Very interesting idea but very weird design on android and not a great Markdown experience. Why doesn't it use swipes, material design and seems to have custom menus that emulate IOS design? Can I use a WYSIWYG editor? Are there quick Markdown buttons for things like lists? A cheatsheet maybe?

Great app but lack of shortcut bar... whatever that bar of buttons atop your keyboard that type in symbols or \t for you(look at Novelist for example) renders this unusable. I'm surprised all its users are comfortable writing markdown on a touch keyboard. Adding a to-do is way too painful; makes you wonder if the devs ever gave it a spin on a touch keyboard. It's has a lot of great ideas and I hate to put down FOSS but it'd be great if the devs worked more on ergonomics and making it accessible.

Great application, complementary to the Joplin desktop note editor. The only current downside is that editing becomes slow for long notes. I hope that this will be solved in the future.

Great work from the Dev, moved from Evernote and haven't looked back plus I control of my data now. The clients on my Linux, Android and iPad devices all function well together.

It is a must have app. Syncs all my markdowns on to my Dropbox.
