My name is Sarah Jones, and this app is an extension of my website, "Inside My Manic Mind." I began blogging as a way to cope with my grief after my husband's suicide October 24, 2017. Like my husband, I suffer from episodes of severe mental illness.
My goal is to reduce the stigma of mental illness & addiction by putting my vision into action.
We have to LISTEN. We all want to be heard, but it's 2020 & ignorance is no longer an excuse when it comes to mental health, & who is better at explaining the mentally ill than the mentally ill?
We have to TALK about our experiences so there can be understanding.
Those who can, need to WRITE what they know so it can be distributed.
By doing the first 3 things, hopefully that will EDUCATE the public, therefore there is no choice but to provide more services, better education & train our teachers & school staff to be trauma informed so some of these illnesses can be prevented & lives not derailed by illness, addiction, overdose & suicide.
ADVOCATE. So many people suffer in silence due to their illness, lack of funds, resources, and fear. If you have a family member or friend who is suffering, ADVOCATE for them if they want it.
Most importantly, VOTE. There will be points on the ballot this fall that are vital to this mission. Let's see that it happens. Thank you for reading and make sure to check out my website.
