Description of Battery Charge Limit [ROOT]

NOTE: This app requires ROOT access to work - if you don't know what it is, it is highly probable that your device doesn't have it. There is no other way this app can work on non-rooted phones. Not all devices may be supported as well! If your device is not supported, please follow the help & support text below. Also, checkout xda-developers.com for more information on rooting devices.
The app works when the device is plugged in and starts charging below the max threshold and will stop once the device is either unplugged or hits the max threshold, completely stopping charging!
The app is OPEN SOURCE, with the source code found on Github: https://github.com/sriharshaarangi/BatteryChargeLimit

S7 Edge G935F (Exynos) works flawlessly as intended. This is my 4th year with this phone and battery is pretty much as good as new.

I doubt it really stops charging. I set it to 90%. When the battery reaches 90%, charging icon on stock status bar battery icon disappears and LED turns off, but the phone doesn't discharge and stays on 90%. Also, battery usage page in settings shows the phone is charging.

The app worked for wired charging out of the box for me, but not for wireless charging. I had to set the CTRL file to /sys/class/power_supply/dc-wireless/charging_enabled to get it working for wireless charging but not for wired. Edit: I've found an even better CTRL file to use on my device (an LG V30 running a custom ROM): /sys/devices/platform/lge-unified-nodes/charging_enable (note no 'd' on the end of this one). That file works for me for both wired and wireless charging, so I suggest that people try that one first. A couple of suggestions for the developer are that it'd be nice if more of these possible CTRL files were predefined in the app and if there were a Browse button so that we could select the file instead of typing out the path. Despite those minor annoyances, the app does do what I really needed it to, so I definitely recommend it.

This saves your battery, is free, and it's awesome. Don't know why it took me so long to rate it, sorry dev.

This app is so simple and does exactly what it says. I'm a staunch believer of not charging battery over 80% to maintain its health. While earlier I used to be vigilant of the % while my phone was charging now I can just plug it in and forget about it while the app halts the charging at 80%.

Works perfectly on android 10. You may experience problems with this app not working properly if you have any Magisk battery charging modules installed on your phone.
