Description

Samba Hero is a guitar hero style samba batucada game with Brazilian percussion instruments.
The origin of the batucada is in the African cultures where groups of drums and different percussion instruments have always been given for popular festivities. The word batucada is attributed to a religion born in Brazil derived from the Yorubas, the batuque, where music is put at the service of the gods. In any case, the batucada is not clearly linked to religion but is rather a form of musical expression typical of Brazil.
The batucada is basically a group of percussionist musicians, known as bloco or drums, who play various Afro-Brazilian rhythms and also musical styles such as enredo, samba reggae, timbalada, candombé and maracatú. The main Brazilian instruments that are played are the surdo, the caixa, the timbal, the repique (or repinique), the agogo, the tamborim. Batucada has flourished in Brazil, mainly in carnivals, where batucadas are formed with more of 2000 percussionists and dancers, so that the Brazilian batucada is the prototype of the movement that is seen all over the world at carnivals.
In this percussion game you will be able to learn guitar hero style rhythmic patterns that mimic the movements performed on each percussion instrument, so get ready to learn Brazilian culture rhythms to the rhythm of the carnival. You will have rhythmic patterns of the following instruments:
- Surdo: Large drum that provides the beat with low sounds. It is played with a mace and hand.
- Repinique: or repique, it's the drum that directs the performance interpreting solos.
- Caixa de guerra: it is a deeper drum with cables in the head and Tarol, a thinner drum box.
- Cuica: it is a single head drum with a drumstick mounted inside the body of the drum, perpendicular to the head. The instrument is played by rubbing a damp cloth along this stick.
- Brazilian Timbale: It is long, cone-shaped and its sound is similar to that of the African djembe.
- Pandeiro: it is similar to the tambourine and can be tuned. It is played only to the rhythm of one hand.
- Agogo: it is a set of bells joined by a support, they are played with a single stick.
- Ganzá: Shakers similar to maracas made of different materials.
- Berimbau: Made with a flexible wooden rod and a percussion wire to which a pumpkin is added. It is used in capoeira, a Brazilian dance with defensive utility.
In addition, each time you complete the different levels of rhythmic patterns, you will be able to access the concert screen, where you can enjoy the complete batucada combining the different rhythms together.
The batucada stands out all over the world as a rhythm of celebration and joy. Within Brazil, it is worth highlighting 3 cities that lead the creation of these festive rhythms: Rio de Janeiro, Salvador de Bahia (samba reggae) and Recife.
