The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has embarked upon the quest to strengthen consumer rights by monitoring the quality and availability of petroleum products. Although, the NOC keeps a detailed database of fuel depots, storage infrastructure, supply chain and vendors, the database is not suitable for conducting detailed geospatial analysis for making better policy decisions. Furthermore, relevant parts of this information are also not easily available for the public. To enable the Corporation to make better decisions regarding petroleum distribution infrastructure, their geo-spatial locations and other financial and technical information related to the components of the supply chain such as depots and fuel vendors should be collected and managed under an intuitive and ergonomic data framework.
This project is about the developing a mobile application. Nowadays, the gadgets are rolling the world. Many people cannot imagine even one day without their favourite mobile device. We use them for everything: find information, stay connected, find the way around, decide what to do, and many other things. Developing of an application usually takes lots of time and needs professional knowledge of software. With the help of mobile applications NOC will be able to establish effective communication with the public. Effective communication would result in more feedback. Users would able to get real time info on the location of petrol pumps, fuel availability and other important parameters. Users can report any discrepancies via the mobile application and NOC would be able to act on it immediately. This is ultimately going to increase the quality of the service.
Previously Nepal Oil Corporation had no any app that could help to monitor the information of pumps and validate the information in their records and track down the geolocation i.e. coordinates of each petrol pumps. With the help of the app NOC can easily do the above mentioned thing also this app is going to be big help to the users to find the all the required information about petrol pumps like: name, location (postal, district, province, street), photo, capacity/admin, petrol/diesel/ gas/kerosene, contact number, opening and closing time and nearest petrol pump etc. As per Nepal Oil Corporation the app has been successfully achieved which successful and lasted as long as three months. The end result satisfies all the objectives mentioned above and has been tested accordingly. We can safely say that the app is superior in both design and functionality.
