Description
Duenna is a ‘‘Women - Only’’ microbus services with the aim of eradicating sexual harassment against women in the public transport.
‘‘Being a mother of three daughters, I know how many times my daughters have been touched inappropriately in public transport. I am sure that the situation is almost identical to all the other mothers. Therefore, I decided to take this small but bold step to remove this social problem so that this world can be a safer place for women to live in. I firmly believe that this is the responsibility I owe to my daughters and I have for other girls’’. (Owner’s Statement).
According to the survey conducted by one young researcher from BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology, 93% of women admitted that they experienced some form of sexual harassment on public transport. Addressing this growing harassment in public transportation issues, Duenna has taken the responsibility of providing transportation services to women. Initially, we introduced the service only in a specific route (Uttara – Bashundhara) with quick expansion to all routes across the country.
