Seu history began when King Jaume I traveled to Mallorca and fighting rough seas, its fleet of ships and men faced great danger. King Jaume I swore that if he succeeded in his mission would build a huge cathedral.
Mallorca Cathedral, popularly known as La Seu, construction began in the thirteenth century. It is the Gothic cathedral which has one of the biggest rosettes in the world, known as the Gothic eye. It is also one of Europe's tallest Gothic cathedrals of the ship.
 
The history of the Cathedral of Mallorca is closely linked to the indigenous monarchy. The beginnings of the most emblematic Mallorcan Gothic monument dating back to the thirteenth century. After the conquest of Madina Mayurqa in 1229, James I, King of Aragon and Count of Barcelona, ​​ordered the consecration from the Old to the Virgin Mary, as a temple for Christian worship mosque, and also a new plant outside according to the style of that era.
 
La Seu synthesizes the past eight centuries of history of Mallorca, and remains a living element that continues evolving. The different artistic styles have contributed to the Cathedral at different times to get one of their main functions: to be a reflection of the heavenly Jerusalem.
