The Trap is a genre of music, whose history begins in the 1990s, in the southern United States. It is a mixture of hip hop and electronic dance music (EDM). It is characterized by its aggressive lyrics, constant use of bass and percussion based on the Roland TR-808.
Although it was more than a decade ago that this genre of electronic music emerged with influences from rap, hip hop, EDM or dubstep, it is now that it has sneaked into the best FM radio stations and crossed borders to the Latin world. Many well-known Djs begin to incorporate them into their mixes and some festivals include Trap groups in their posters.
It is not protest music, they do not ask for political changes. They know that "the thing is chunga" and that "this is what there is". So, what else?
