Madal(मादल : Nepali) is a folk instrument of Nepal. Madal is very popular percussion instrument and widely used in Nepal.
The madal is a cylindrical body made up of wood with a slight bulge at its center and double headed. The heads of the drum
are made of double-layered goat skins, and a black paste made of flour, iron filings, and egg is burned in to a circular area
in the center of each head. The cirular black portion is known as Khari. The double heads of madal are varies in its diameter.
The bigger in size one called Bhale (भाले : Nepali) and small one called Pothi (पोथी: Nepali) .
