• what we want to learn;
• our timeline, depending on the natural cadence of the occasion of interest and client deadlines. It can be anywhere from a day to months, with potential to pause, learn & digest and re-engage.
• We find and engage with target consumers – the participants.
If needed, this can be a very niche target, or people living almost anywhere in the world, with translation to native language when / if needed.
Sample participant targets: owners of emerging technologies or particular products, people at a specific lifestage or in the midst of a specific life event, those who are in the market for a specific purchase, owners and users of a client’s / competitors’ products / services, etc.

• We engaged with those facing a challenging life event over a month-long period to fully understand their needs.
Our deliverable was four innovation platforms, each with a strong strategic fit for the client and potential to disrupt the industry. We also created several distinct customer personas to drive product development and marketing efforts. We proposed over 20 new ideas for specific products or services that fit our client’s brand, each tied to a persona.
• We spent over a week with people across multiple countries who had already invested heavily in Smart Home technology to understand their needs, frustrations, future intentions and motivations.
The outcome created the underpinning for this brand’s communication strategy and their overall value proposition, foundational to their expansion into new markets.
• Our client wanted to understand what it means to be a ‘care giver’ and how they could help those in that role.
We delivered a hierarchy of needs for both the care givers and care receivers, from which a series of innovation workshops took place to optimize current developments and create new ideas, realized in launches which hit the market within months.
