فالتربية مشروعٌ كبير يحتاج لإعدادٍ كبير
إن السنوات الأولى من عمر الطفل هي أخطر مرحلة من مراحل تربية الطفل. هي مرحلة تأسيس الهيكل النفسي لشخصية الطفل أو قالب الشخصية، هذا الهيكل يكسا بعد ذلك ويضاف عليه سلوكيات وسمات أخرى. فإذا كان الهيكل قوياً فإن الطفل يعيش منتصباً قويماً يقدر أن يدير حياته بإبداع، ومن كان هيكله مهلهلاً فإن الطفل سيهوي في وديان العجز النفسي.
الطفل ليس مجرد معدة يجب أن نطعمه ، أو عقل يجب ان نحشر فيه المعلومات ، إن للطفل روح ونفس وقلب وجسد وشخصية تنمو وتتكامل وجب أن نعتني بها جميعاً.
إن الطفل - ومن وجهة نفسية - هو جزء من علاقة مثلثة مع الأب والأم ، فنفسيته وسلوكه وأفكاره تتأثر بعلاقته مع أمه وأبيه وعلاقة أبويه فيما بينهما ، وكأنه مع أبويه نفسٌ واحدة.
سلوك الطفل:
يجب أن يُقيّم سلوكه وتصرفاته في ثلاثة مجتمعات وهي: البيت والمدرسة و في سواهما ( عند الأقارب ، في المطعم .. ).
ويتحدد سلوك الطفل بالعوامل التالية:
• هل يوجد مرض صحي عند الطفل ؟
• ما مدى التأذي الحاصل من هذا السلوك على صعيد الطفل أو أسرته او مدرسته؟
• ما هي الحالة الأسرية ؟
• ماهي البيئة الاجتماعية الذي نشأ فيها الطفل ؟
• ما هو وضع الطفل في المدرسة ؟
• ما هو مستوى ذكاء الطفل ؟
فإما أن يكون سلوك الطفل : نتيجة طبيعية لظرف غير طبيعي أو وراثي من أحد الأبوين أو عائلتيهما ، أو سلوك متعلّم ومكتسب من المحيط به.
