Age-related poor balance is due to decreased diminished neuromuscular feedback, often leading to an increased risk of falling. Prior studies have shown that motor-cognitive, dual-task performance exercises can enhance proprioception and neuromuscular control, improving balance and gait speed, thus reducing the risk of falling in older adults.
Our project clinically tested and engineered a smartphone application to make the balance exercises easily accessible, helping improve older adults’ (age 60 or above) balance by providing evidence-based motor cognitive, dual-task exercises.
Built for and designed by the University of Arizona Center on Aging.
