Currently, the graduate program of the School of Mechanical Engineering consists of 5 majors including_Energy Systems, Mechanical Systems Design, Precision Manufacturing Systems, Control and Automation Systems and Nuclear Systems. We offer chances for students to receive a wide range of engineering education courses and for graduates to pursue their career in various fields.
The School of Mechanical Engineering (SME) at PNU was designated as a government-supported college of engineering in 1994 and selected as a large-scale project team of the New University for Regional Innovation (NURI) in 2005.
The SME was selected in the category of science and technology of the 2nd-phase BK21 in 2006, selected as a core department for university specialization projects in 2007, selected as the Education Center for the Leading Industries in Southeast Economic Zone in 2009, selected for the Leaders in Industry-University Cooperation (LINC) project in 2012, selected in the category of science and technology of BK21 Plus in 2013, and selected as a regional strategic university of CK-I in 2014. Funded heavily by the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development, the SME provides one of the country's best undergraduate and graduate programs in an aim to cultivate professionals with field adaptability and creativity.

The undergraduate program of the SME includes the dynamic/kinetic analysis of mechanical system designs, the computer-aided optimal designs, the manufacturing process technologies of components used for the production of machines, automobiles, ships and semiconductors/micro equipment, various control theories on automation and intellectualization of a wide range of machinery systems. Moreover, combined with theory education about energy-related core technologies, we strive to nurture creative and highly adaptable talents through creative engineering design and Capstone design, and hands-on education including field training.
