Brachial Triceps.
The triceps is a muscle located in the posterior arm. It consists on top of three parts: long portion, inner and outer vast. It is the only muscle found in the back of the arm.
• the long portion has its origin in the bottom of the glenoid of the scapula.
• The vastus lateralis in the intermuscular aponeurosis and posterior aspect of the humerus.
• The vastus in the intermuscular aponeurosis and posterior aspect of the humerus.
• The three portions are inserted via a common tendon, on the back side and edges of the olecranon.
Origins and insertions: triceps in Latin means three heads. Therefore it has three origins and a single insertion:
• Long head: from the infraglenoid tubercle of the scapula.
• Lateral head: above the channel line torque (groove for the radial nerve also known radial channel).
• Medial head: below the lower channel line torque (below the lateral head).
• The three heads are inserted through the triceps tendon in the olecranon.
Innervation: the radial nerve innervates. (C6, C7, C8, T1) Sometimes the medial head of the triceps brachii may also have a innervation of the ulnar nerve.
Vascularization: irrigates the deep brachial artery.
Functions.
It is the main extensor forearm in the elbow joint, so it can also extend and adduct the humerus. Around makes a synergistic action of extension, because it is located in the back of the arm.
