Tom and Jerry

Tom
is a grey and white shorthair cat. He is usually but not always, portrayed as living a comfortable, or even pampered life, while
Jerry
is a small, brown, house mouse who always lives in close to Tom. Despite being very energetic, determined and much larger in strength, Tom can’t reach for Jerry's wits. Jerry also have surprising strength for his size, approximately the equivalent of Tom's.

to eat them, it is quite rare for
Tom
try to eat Jerry. Most of his attempts are just to humiliate Jerry, sometimes in revenge, and sometimes to obtain a reward from owner for catching
Jerry
. At the end of each episode,
Jerry
usually emerges triumphant, while
Tom
is shown as the loser.
On rare occasions,
Tom
triumphs, usually when
Jerry
becomes the aggressive or he pushes Tom a little too far.
Tom Jerry
display aggressive tendencies, in that they are equally likely to take pleasure in disturbing each other. However, when one character appears to truly be in deadly danger from an unplanned situation or due to actions by a third party, the other will develop a conscience and save him. Occasionally, they bond over a mutual emotion towards an unpleasant experience and their attacking each other is more play than serious attacks
