Alert, a NGO working towards "Right to Life" in India offers a community driven citizen platform to bridge the need for emergency help with voluntary first response, through this eco-system called "alert VoICE".
The app would "connect" a person needing help in an emergency to a certified first responder called "VoICE" (Volunteers In Case of Emergency) who are Good Samaritans in readiness to volunteer their help until professional help arrives.Users can raise an Alert at the tap of a button from this mobile app. The VoICEs closest to the initiator will receive the alert with geo-location as well as the mobile number of the initiator and voluntarily reach out to handle the golden hour.
In collaboration with "Apollo Hospitals" as the medical partner, the VoICEs are assessed and jointly certified as first responders empowered to act in case of emergencies per international protocols.
In collaboration with "Peace for Children", an initiative by Shree Dayaa Foundation as "Save a Child" partner, the alert VoICE platform has also been leveraged to report missing children with a specific focus on child welfare and safety. It is a citizen platform for users to report emergencies such as trafficking, abuse etc. of children which will be immediately broadcast to volunteers in the geo-region for further action.
United Way Chennai collaborates with diverse partners to identify and build on community strengths, help individuals and groups with specific community interests to find ways to contribute their time and talents, supports direct-service programs and community-change efforts, and advocates public-policy changes in the areas of Health, Education and Livelihood. Depending on the issue and how the community chooses to address it, United Way Chennai works with schools, non-profit organizations, government agencies, businesses, community development corporations, and others.
