"Langur Burja" is well known as a gambling game mostly played in Nepal and India. In Nepal , it is known as Khorkhore but in India , it is known as Jhanda Burja. This game is similar to British game named "Crown and Anchor". It is mostly played legally only on certain occasion like Dashain , Tihar( mainly on festive season of Nepal ).
WHAT ARE THE SYMBOLS USED IN LANGUR BURJA?
Six dices are used in Langur Burja. The dices are equal in size and shape to standard dice. Symbols such as langur (Jhanda) , burja , diamond(eet), spade(surat), club (chidi) and heart (paan) are used . Symbols such as diamond , spade , club and heart are the same symbols used on playing cards.
HOW TO PLAY?
Since it is a guessing game players can place their bets on any of the six symbols. Players will place a bet and will roll the dices.
The rules to play Langur Burja are:
1) If none or one of the dices show the symbol which holds a bet then the player will lose bet money.
2) But , if two or three or four or five or six of the dices shows the symbol which holds a bet , then the player will win twice or thrice or four times or five times or six times the bet according to the result. Also, the original bet money too. For example , if I place bet of 100 rupees on "Langur" and three of the dices shows "Langur" when the bucket is lifted then I will get 300 rupees..
