Using Google Sky Maps
Google Sky Maps is a sky map that shows you celestial objects such as stars, constellations, galaxies, planets, or moons.
Tracing the sky
To search for locations and celestial objects, enter a search term and click Browse. Here are some examples.

Move across the sky
There are two ways to change the appearance of the sky.
Shift
To move or move a map, do one of the following:
Dragging the display in all directions.
To move north, press the up arrow.
To move south, press the down arrow.
To move east, press the right arrow.
To move west, press the left arrow.
Zoom in or out
There are several ways to zoom in and out of the sky:
Press the or - button.
Move the cursor to one place on the map and use the mouse scroll button.
Drag the zoom slider up or down.
Tip: To center and enlarge a place, double-click on the place in question.
Note: In the lower left, you will see the cursor coordinates. These coordinates are always updated when you move the cursor.
See different views
To see different views on Google Sky Maps, look to the top right and select the view. To stop viewing the display, click again.
Note: You can use more than one view at a time.
Infrared: View the current infrared display image. To adjust opacity, move the slider.
Microwaves: View the current microwave image. To adjust opacity, move the slider.
Historically: See the historical map of the sky. To adjust opacity, move the slider. You might get a better look by zooming out.
View a collection of images
You can see a collection of interesting images by clicking on the thumbnail at the bottom of the page, such as the Hubble Storefront. To adjust opacity, move the slider (if applicable).
