The official body-mass index (BMI) has been found to be faulty in many cases. For example if you have a lot of muscle mass or high bone density (or both) the BMI formula can faultily label you as obese. Also women who are curvy at hips and bust can be labeled "overweight" by the BMI formula though their waistlines are all healthy. This is where waist to height ratio comes in - combining several calculations with your gender and age we try to assess what makes up your BMI.
This application has been created for you to have a more accurate estimate of your physical health what comes to body weight, among other useful information.
HE4LTH is a physical health application that takes into account five different factors: your height, weight, gender, waist circumference and your age to calculate four indicators - Body Mass Index (BMI), waist to height ratio (WHtR), approximate body fat percentage (to get exact fat percentage you need medical tools) and Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). In practice, BMR means the minimum amount of energy expenditure at rest - the energy you use if doing nothing. Finding this out can help you plan diets etc.
- Answers the question "Am I overweight?" much more accurately than just calculating body mass index.
- Calculates your body-mass index, waist to height ratio, approximate fat percentage and your basal metabolic rate
- You can use metric or imperial measurements
- Combines these results to give you a report of your current body weight
- Completely different formulas are used for males and females, taking to account even trivial differences
- On demand, sends a report to your E-mail including all the factors
- Shows your BMI, waist to height ratio and other information with two decimal accuracy (BMI 25.46 etc etc)
- Calculates the calories you need to go under for an effective diet if needed
The formulas and guidelines used in this body weight app are implemented from reputable sources: National Institutes of Health / World Health Organization (BMI formula / Quetelet index), LIVESTRONG.COM (WHtR), Harris-Benedict Equation (BMR).
