BIOTA – a BIOdiversiTy App that helps to identify and flag geographic coordinates of life forms.
The current release (Version 1.0) focuses on invasive plant species. It can identify 10 plant species and capture its location along with time stamp on to a central database. Upcoming versions will include endemics and other forms of life.
BIOTA makes available, a platform for federated collection of information regarding occurrence of species. This will enhance the accuracy of species distribution models and contribute to effective biodiversity conservation.
