The Effects of Emotions
What does the word emotion mean? Are there any types of emotions to be aware of? How much do you really know about emotions and their elements in your daily life? All these questions would be dealt in a clear and explained way in this guide.
This chapter in particular deals with the basics of emotions. Emotions are part of human nature. One of the definitions for the word emotion can be described as- "A complex psychological state involving three different components listed as Subjective Experience Psychological Response and Behavioral Response".
Emotions are one of the important factors that dictate the daily routine of an individual. Even the tiniest decisions of the day are made by various emotions that are meted out. Various researches and studies into this subject made understand what exactly emotions are and have further been classified into various types.
For instance In 1972 Paul Eckman a Psychologist suggested that there are precisely 6 basic emotions considered universal among the entire human race. He listed them as anger fear
disgust surprise sadness and happiness. However in 1999
after more deeper research he added few more basic emotions to the list such as excitement embarrassment contempt pride
amusement and satisfaction.
Emotions motivate the mind and body. Yes this is true and without emotions the human body cannot survive against various unexpected situations that occur in the daily life. The human body feels motivated in an emotional state.
The muscles either feel relaxed or tensed. It simply means that the emotions drives the human body and mind to perform a particular task or sometimes just sit and do nothing.
It is believed that there are around 90 muscles inside a human face and 30 among them have the only purpose of conveying the inner emotions to others.
These tiny expressions helps others to decide how to respond accordingly. These emotions can be considered as social signals. And sometimes these kind of emotions serve as internal signals as well.
Try Evaluating Emotions Many a times when one feels stressed up high in life starts to blame self.
It is important to avoid such situation and instead try to find out the exact cause. According to a recent study it is advisable for an individual under such an emotional state
to be able to differentiate between negative and positive emotions so that they cannot be lumped together which in turn forms a miserable mess in the mind and might lead to a greater emotional stress.
Below listed are few tasks that needs to be included in our daily routine in order to evaluate different emotions and stay away from being emotionally stressed out.
Take some time out
Always try to take some time out from the daily routine to exercise and prepare the mind to be mentally ready to accept and react to different situations that might arise in the daily life.
This task can be performed easily when an individual can identify between various emotions that he/she emotes accordingly. Try finding out the exact emotions that causes an unpleasant mood and ask self as how to react or control self to avoid such situations further.
Write down your feelings
It is always recommended to make a list of all the emotional feelings that one goes through daily. This task is for those individuals who find it hard to identify various emotions in their daily life. When a complete list is made and read back
the individual can easily identify that a certain pattern is formed associated with his/her emotional feelings.
And this task helps in differentiating one emotional state to another.
Take a stroll
It doesn't matter if you have had a normal day or a busy day at work It is advisable to refresh after work and take some time out to do a little bit of walking.
This daily exercise helps in clearing the mind of unwanted things resulting in evaluate emotions in a more clearer way than before.
