The Right Distance helps you stay safe in crowded spaces, while respecting your privacy.
Even in these particular and difficult times it is important to enjoy the beauties of art, culture, nature and architecture. The Right Distance can help you do so with peace of mind, taking care of your safety.
We use the BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) capabilities of your smartphone to estimate your distance to other app users,
and notify you if you get too close to someone else.
We do so in the most unobtrusive and discreet way possible, without flooding the user with unnecessary information and notifications, and in the most energy-efficient way. No data is collected or shared by this app, so your privacy is intact.
The Right Distance will request your permission to access Bluetooth and "precise positioning". This is because in the Android permissions system an app is required to ask for both these to access BLE.
We keep in great consideration both your safety and your privacy:
We will never and in any case read or access to your device GPS, positioning, storage or data.
We will not store on any device, local or remote, any information about your device or the devices that the app will sense. Also, there is no way in the app to identify you, your devices or the other devices nearby.
Please note: this app is intended to be used in publicly accessible contexts authorized by the developer. To do so, it is required to enable the app scanning a QR-code provided by the institution, that you will likely find at the entrance of said spaces.
Detailed instructions and assistance personal should be provided by the organization that invited you to install The Right Distance.
