Eu privacy regulators rapped WhatsApp around the knuckles because of not resolving their concerns within the messaging service's discussing of user data with parent company Facebook, annually once they first issued an alert.

The Irish data protection authority - that has jurisdiction over Facebook within the EU since the company's European headquarters have been in Dublin - stated in April it wished to achieve an offer within the coming several weeks around the data discussing with WhatsApp.
"Within the this past year we've engaged with data protection government bodies to describe how our 2016 terms and online privacy policy update affect individuals who use WhatsApp in Europe. We remain dedicated to respecting relevant law and will work collaboratively with officials in Europe to deal with their questions," a WhatsApp spokesman stated.
The WP29 also stated users' consent wasn't freely given as WhatsApp effectively adopted a "go or let it rest approach by which users either signal their 'consent' towards the discussing of information or they're not able to make use of WhatsApp's messaging service."
